access care from the health service center at your institution,
then from a physician in your designated provider network.

Q. When does my coverage end on
the student insurance plan?
A. Effective dates for student insurance plans vary
among institutions. Please review your plan brochure
for exact coverage dates. Again, plan brochures can
be accessed at www.dssinsurance.com.
Q.
Will the student insurance plan cover all my medical
expenses?
A. If they apply, your student insurance brochure will
state plan deductibles, co- payments and total coverage
amounts. Most student insurance programs provide secondary
insurance coverage. This means that coverage provided
under your parents plan, through an employer, etc. will
be primary and pay first.
Q.
What are deductibles and co-payments?
A. A deductible is the amount that is paid by the insured
prior to receiving payment coverage through the insurance
plan.
A co-payment is when payment is made by both the insurer
and insured for services rendered. As an example, an
80/20 plan allows for 80% payment by the insurer and
remaining 20% is covered by the insured.
